This can be complicated.  While an epidural cannot cause rheumatoid arthritis, if you were tensed up and experienced pain afterward, and already had rheumatoid arthritis, then it can cause the pain to be more severe.  It is funny how RA is diagnosed.  Many times people come in for something that may be unrelated to RA, but get the diagnosis of RA from blood tests results.  I do not know of anyone who has been diagnosed with RA after an epidural.  Now if you had the epidural due to childbirth, I know many people who have been diagnosed with RA after childbirth.  Good luck and best wishes!
