Q: Neck pain

I'm constantly have neck pain.  I was diagnoised with RA in Jan 09.  In addition to RA I was in a car accident in June 08.  At the time off the car accident they did an MRI on my neck showing I had joint deterioration in C5 & C7.  Does anyone no if this could have actually been from the RA, but I just didn't know it at the time.  All the doctors who seen me after the car accident said this was a natural process and was not caused by the accident.  I wonder now if this wasn't the RA, but I was just unaware of the cause at the time.  I have read that RA does affect the cervical spin at C5,6 &7 and are common areas of deterioration.  Any insight or personal experiences would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Michelle

P.S.  I'm also having a lot of trouble with shoulder poping and hurting, any suggestion for this as well.

Hi Michelle,

I also was in a car accident. Hurt the last three disk in my kneck. I had an MRI done also. My RA doctor told me that he could not determine what percentage was due to the RA and how much was done by the accident, I still have the pain in my kneck. So if your RA doctor is telling you that it is all from the RA, he could be wrong. Ask for your RA doctor to redue an MRI, and to reread the old one. If you were just diagnoised with RA this year, then your accident may have caused your disk to be the way they are.
