Do the inner ear bones (hammer, anvil and stirrup) have synovium? Is it unusual to feel pain there?
I had jaw pain that appeared to 'migrate' to my inner ear. I wasn't feeling like a cold or anything, and i remembered that the 3 smallest bones in the human body are in the ear. I'm just wondering if anyone else felt this type of pain (not excruciating, but just 'there"'). I hope I'm not going (or sounding) crazy! Can our experts answer that question? (or was it just a fluke?)
That's a really good question...now I'm wondering about it too! You could be getting an ear infection, maybe?

Hey, I was in to see my rhuemy today and happened to ask him about this since I was intrigued by it too. I have ear pain off and on but not infections. Regular doctor can never find anything. Anyway, my rhuemy said it is possible that the RA is affecting those bones, he has never diagnosed or seen it but yes it is possible. He was intrigued by me talking about this sight, thought he might have to check it out. He is sending me for an MRI even though I'm not currently having any trouble with it. Hope this helps.

Yes, I've been having a similar problem off and on. I thought it might be my upgraded cell phone, and had my ears checked twice! No infection, no wax, no problem (except maybe very dry ...) It seemed to start on the outside and work in. Now even putting a q-tip in my right ear around the outside hurts! (It seemed to start in the left ear).

psd - I was wondering what you found out about this? I'm showing so many signs of RA and have had an RA factor blood test which came back 'normal'. I've also been having a lot of ear pain that feels like an infection, but there is none. Hope to hear from you soon.
