I was recently diagnosed with RA and have been experiencing terrible chest pain. It has been occuring frequently, but at random times. It is not brought on by higher stress, or exercise per say and it lasts for verying amounts of time. The longest it lasted was for about seven minutes. It is a sharp stabbing and it occurs on one side of my chest at a time varying which side. I was wondering if anyone else felt this pain, and if so how do you take care of it? Does anyone know if this is a common RA symptom or could it be part of something else?

With any chest pain, you should have it checked out by your doctor.  I do know that RA can cause costochondritis, which is inflammation of the cartilage of the rib cage that can cause pain and soreness.   If it hurts when you push on your sternum or on your ribs near your sternum, then changes are it is costochondritis than anything else.

But please check with your doctor, its always a good thing to have chest pains looked at.

I have this every once in a while, and I know that it can be painful and annoying.
