the Mediterranean diet has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties. I would also recommend that you keep a food diary for about 3-4 weeks and include how you feel every day, what kind of painkillers you take, etc. - this should enable you to start seeing patterns about which kinds of foods may trigger an increase in your symptoms. Some common triggers that I've heard of are tomatoes, potatoes, fried foods and sugar.

Hi GMA, I know pineapple, broccoli, grapes and strawberries are suppose to help, and I was told to not eat tomatoes. Just passing on the info.

Various people have found that leaving out certain foods helps, but the most important thing is a healthy diet that helps keep the weight down.

Avoid animal fats, vegetable fats that have been cooked at high temperature or fried. Use lots of olive oil if frying instead of regular cooking oil. Use raw vegetable oils, provided they are fresh and unrefined. Avoid acidic drinks. Fish oil is great as an anti inflammatory, especially salmon, mackerel, herring and cod.Poach or steam the fish for best results.Avoid fries or fried foods.Avoid margarines or butter as they are inflammatory. Avoid fizzy drinks and sugary drinks, use sugar very sparingly. Sugar causes a release of adrenaline, a hormone. If you consume too much it ends up as fat, we need a certain amount just.Eat plenty brown rice, whole wheats, beans. Avoid potatoes, cafeine, that is tea and cofee. Avoid tomatoes, peppers, tobacco. Eat plenty fresh fruits and vegetables except those mentioned already. ger. Reply

Uugghh! No wonder I feel bad!  My weight is fine, no problem there...but my diet is horrible.  What is worse is that I know better!  I know I shouldn't eat Chick-fillet waffle fries and three Shipley's warm plain glazed donuts with coffee, but I do.  As a matter of fact, my coffee is made and the timer is set to go off in the morning.  I make my ownself feel bad!

Do'nt beat yourself up too much. You've got to have some little treat to look forward to, whatever that maybe. Just ease off the fries and sugary stuff and you will feel better, plus you will ward off the possibility of contracting diabetes. Herbal teas are great, there's so much to chose, but do have the occasional coffee.
