RA?

Christine M
09/03/09

I was diagnosed with scoliosis when i was 16 years old but since then i have noticed more and more pain. My neck will hurt, my spine will hurt and then sometimes it seems out of nowhere my fingers will hurt, my wrists, the bones in my arms, my feet, the bones in my legs and my knees. It goes away for awhile and then boom again here comes the pain. I dread it. I can't sleep at all when it's like this.   I get in so much pain i cannot walk up and down the stairs, cannot pick things up or open things and i just get so depressed that i lay in bed crying and angry. I have tried everything over the counter and NOTHING seems to work. My husband and i are actually moving to a one level because there are days i cannot go up and down the steps to eat or drink or if i do make it down stairs it's like a battle just to get back up.

I haven't been to a doctor yet because i am looking for a plan that will accept my already pre-existing conditions because i also might have a thyroid problem. I just want to LIVE again i feel like my life has been stolen from me. I can barely take care of my pets it just has taken everything from me. Does this sound like RA to you?

Keep in mind I'm not a doctor, but it does sound awfully familiar - in case it is RA, you definitely need to see a doctor quickly as if they're important to treat early and aggressively to limit permanent damage to your joints. A few days ago, one of our users posted an answer to a question from someone who didn't have insurance and she had a couple good ideas on how to get medical care without insurance - check the comment left by Ellen here.

Thank you so much! Finding this site has helped me so much. I feel so alone in this all the time but coming on here and reading things just helps me because someone out there knows what this is like. My husband asks where does it hurt, what does it feel like and i tell him i just can't explain it to you but it's awful. It's like no other pain i have ever experienced. I come from a family with a very long line of health problems including bone problems so i always knew something like this could happen to me.

We're gonna try adding me to my husbands insurance i don't know if they'll drop me or not has anyone here ever went with insurance through their work? I haven't seen a doctor in almost 10 years so i am lost.
