Hello

I am not very regular on this site but happy that i found one.Whenever I am concerned I write on it and so far my concers have been answered and that also in a positive way.I am thankful to those people who take their time and write back the answers.I was diagnosed with RA about 8-9yrs back.I have been primarily on Methatroxate for 4 years and Arava(Leumafoid) for past one year.I am 31 and want to start a family. My doctor stopped all the medication and put me on 5mg Preednisone and I was happy untilI developed Scleritis(redness in eyes). This condition has been there for 2 mths now and it's under control from 20mg Prednisone, but the redness in the eye is still there.Went to see an eye specialist an he has increased the prednisone dose to 60mg for 1 week and then 40 for 2 weeks before seeing him again.Still not pregnant, and the worry is with all these medications will it affect my body. Also has anyone had this problem, how long does it take to get treated. Can it come back again.

I understand your need to get off of methotrexate, but prednilesone can have some troublesome side effects that can plague one for years.  It caused glaucoma that stayed with me.  Scleritis can be very resistant to treatment and is a serious threat to vision.  I've been treated since early 2006 and find that Humira does a good job, expecially when a small amount of methotrexate is used with it.
