Q: does everyone have the presence of Rheumatoid factor in their blood?

My rheumatoid factor used to be negative but now the lab results say positive. Luckily, the level is in the normal range. I have been told by others that everyone has Rheumatoid factor in their blood and it means nothing unless elevated and others have said that it is not normal to have it present but only becomes concerning if elevated.

I am HLA-B27 positive also with osteoarthritis and have had multiple bone surgeries to keep active/working. Bilateral joint pain and stiffness lasting 45 mins. to hour.

I am not sure about the rheumatoid factor.  But with the HLA-B27 I'm positive, my father is positive, but has pmr( arthritis of the muscles and tendons) his mother is also is postive and had pmr.  Maybe your rheum factor could be positive just because you have the gene.  However having the gene doesn't mean that you will only get rheumatoid type arthrits', I know it also can create psoriatic arthritis and anklysoing spondolytis which usualy go hand in hand.  I'd ask your dr.
