I start remicade next week. Can anyone tell me of your experience with remicade either good or bad? I'm very nervous about this med. Thanks!
I've been on Remicade for a year & it has helped me soooo much. I tried Humira & Enbrel first but they didn't help as all. My Rheumatologist suggested trying Remicade because they have a great deal of success with it. I was despirate, I would've tried anything. I started noticing a difference after the second infusion. I don't mind sitting there for 2 hours, I just take a book or magazine to read. The time goes really fast. Remicade had helped so much, that I started out taking it every 4 weeks (after the introduction phase) now its every 6 weeks & my Rheumatologist is hoping to move it to every 8 weeks & maybe stopping it. I'm not sure about stopping it, but I'll see. Anyway, I've not had a problem with it. Good luck!!
I've been on it now for about 8 months and it's been a life saver. I didn't want to start an IV treatment untill I absolutely had to, but after having trouble getting the enbrel (my pharmacy was changing drug companies) I got frustrated with the roller coaster ride and asked my doc to go ahead with the remicade. I'm so glad I did. I started feeling better after the second loading dose. So far I haven't had any problems with reactions, just had to decrease the time to every 6 weeks instead of 8 cause it wouldn't last long enough. I also take methotrexate. The time on IV really doesn't seem that long, take a book or something to occupy your time. I was really dreading the time of just having to sit.....I've never been one to sit still for very long, but it's really not that bad. I make sure they put the IV where I can still move around and work on my doggy bows, or play a handheld video game, or do puzzle books ect.
As long as it is working, I wouldn't care if I had to go every week!
I hope this helps, and I wish you the best with your treatment. No 2 people are the same but for me this stuff is great!
