Q: Anyone ever been on Remicade or Embrel & how well has it worked and side affects???

I have been diagnosed with RA for over 11 years now and was on metho. for all that time untill 4 mo. ago i had to get off of it coz my body started to reject it...So now im on leflunomide and my dr. has been trying for 4 yrs. to get me on one of the biologics like remacade, or embrel those are the ones she has mentioned before, but i was too scared to go on them coz of the side affects. But i now am kinda ready i think, has anyone or is any one on eigther of those? And if so can you let me know how well it works and the side effects??? Thank you!

I was on methotrxate for several years but even taking it by shots, I was still so sick that I decide it wasn't worth it.  I have been on enbrel for 3 years and have not had any side affects.  My blood work has been stable and I haven't had any really bad flares.  Thw only thing if you get an infection or a cold stop your shots until you are better.  I had a joint replacement two years ago and had to stop my shots for about 8 weeks.

I was on enbrel for 8 years. It helped me for a long time and then stopped helping, I have now been on humira for 1 year and it doesnt seem to be doing that much. I did not have any side affects from enbrel. A friend of mine is on remicade and he is doing really well on it and has no side affects. I hope this helps!

I was on Remicade for a year, didn't work well for me, then tried Orencia for about a year also didn't work well for me. Now I am on Enbrel, so far it is the best one, doesn't last me a week but that's ok cause at least I don't have to wait long before another injection. Also take MTX, Plaquenil, Prednisone, Vicodin. I also have FM so I take Lyrica. I have mitral valve prolapse, left ventricle hypertrophy, dry eye.
