Hi, I'm sorry, I know this is an RA site but I was informed that methotrexate was used as a med for RA and I'm at a complete loss
so i'm turning to those that know more than me. Plus i think it may be usefull for women (those that don't know much about it, like me for example) on this site who are trying for a baby.
I was wondering if anybody here has been given, or heard of methotrexate being given as a way of dealing with an ectopic pregnancy or an early misscarriage?
I've had two injections of the drug in the space of a week (only finding out after the injections what the drug was and what it was more commenly used for) but since then, I've found that I've gone up a dress size in the 4 weeks since my first injection!!! I've always battled with my weight but I was loosing it very quickly
and I really don't want to go back to the weight I was
I'm having enough trouble dealing with the misscarriage as it is without worrying about my weight aswell. (just to confirm ... if anything i'm not eating half as much because i'm feeling rather low at the moment).
Also the hospital told me that while the methotrexate is in my system I can't try for another child because there is a very high risk of spina bifida??? does anyone know anything about this at all??? I've asked my doctors but I'm a bit skeptical as to what to think because my doctors hadn't even heard of methotrexate being used for such treatment
very reassuring!!!
They have said however that it may effect the menstrual cycle? ... is this true? if so how does it get affected and how long does it take to right itself?
I really am so sorry for all the questions but does anyone know anything that could maybe help me and any way to controll all of this if they are side effects of the drug? my doctors don't seem to know much about the effects or anything about how it will work because of the circumstances which i was given it
if anyone can help me i would be so gratefull. thankyou xxx
