Hi, Karen,

I'm sorry to hear you have been dx with RA.  Being diagnosed with a chronic illness can be a bit overwhelming at first.  I didn't see any meds listed in your profile. Are you seeing a rheumatologist?  Has he/she prescribed any medication?

The pain of a chronic illness can get old quick, and sometimes we need antidepressants to help us adjusat.  I do not have RA...I have a host of other things, including inflammatory OA.  I do have daily pain and stiffness, so I can relate somewhat to your situation.

I am not a doctor, just a patient, like you, but I have a few suggestions.  First, read as much about RA as you can.  Information is power.  Second, find a doctor you trust and work with him/her to get your RA under control.  Third, Take a deep breath.  There are many, many treatments for RA now.  You may have to take more than one drug.  Everyone is different, and what works for one person may not work for another.  Fourth, Be Patient with yourself and your doctor.  It sometimes takes a while to get the right combo of drugs.  It is a trial and error process.

Please give us some information about what meds your are on, etc, and we will try to help you with information and support.

Peace,

V
