I believe Health Central has an expert on insurance, it's a different page on the RA central website. I would start the search with her posts. You can also do a google search for health insurance companies in your state. I would also recommend looking at your state government website to see if they have a state health insurance program (not Medicaid).
I live in Maryland and when I moved here I had no health insurance. The company that had insured me as a student wouldn't insure me through their private insurance program because of my arthritis. MD has a state health insurance plan for people whose employers don't offer health insurance AND have been turned down by private health insurers. I had to show that I had been a resident for six months and had to send in 1-2 enrollment denial letters from private companies. But it covered all of my health care, including RA care and drugs and the premium each month wasn't as outrageous as private health insurance can be. So it's definitely something to look into.
Good luck.
