I am so sorry that this is happening to you!!! I wish that I had a miracle solution for you and for myself for that matter! I didn't know that you could take Meth. and Plaquenil together?!?!?! I take Methotrexate and Celebrex for RA. I take Cymbalta for depression. I take folic acid, something ( I can't remember the name at the moment) for high cholesteral and I take hormones for menapause. I either feel like I want to sleep all the time, or I feel like I have no energy and just want to be a couch potato,...I so feel your pain!!! I think that this whole no energy/sleepiness thing makes me feel even more depressed too. I know that I want to do more, but can't seem to be able to do it. I work 48 hours a week and seem to be just spent after my work week is over. I have to make myself get up and get the "have to do" stuff done, like laundry, groc. shopping, cleaning my house and etc.
Hey Christine. I have been trying different things to help with my being tired all the time. The one that is helping the most is Vitamin-D. It is helping alot. I am also trying to incorporate more fruits and veggies. Eatting better foods seems to be helping as well. I struggle with emotional eating and was really self sabotaging myself. So my focusing on eating better is helping. So many of the med.'s we are taking cause drowsieness. We just have to do the best we can and try to adjust the medications that make us drousey to be taken at our normal sleep cycle times, if possible.
As far as depression, I think that if you don't feel like doing the normal things that used to bring you joy and you feel like withdrawing from others and life, and you know when you are hermiting up, you are struggling with some depression and may need to talk to your doctor or a LCPC, therapist about it to clarify and think about options.
Good luck to you. Hope you feel better. Happy holidays. ;)
I have a similar problem. I have ra, fibromyalsia, anxiety, rapid pulse, diabetes, and am developing high blood pressure. I am on methotrexate, plaquenil, folic acid, nexium, metformin, toprol, and cymbalta. I have found that I'm tired all the time. However on days whenI don't eat much and drink plenty of water and gatorade, I am able to do more. Also I try to take the nexium, plaquenil, folic acid, methotrexate, and cymbalta five hours prior to bed time. I take the blood pressure/ pulse med with my coffee in the morning and do my best to avoid salt and peanut butter as they tend to make me want to sit down. I hope my silly habits help. They seem to help me!
Don't fear, you're not alone. I'm on methotrexate, plaquenil, folic acid, and a slew of bipolar medication. Some days I will sleep 36 hours straight. Other days like today, I can't get into bed and have a problem with sleeping. I'll be exhausted, but there's noting I can do about it. It comes and goes. It's hard to have friends, make connections, have relationships, much less be relaible to yourself or others. Getting into the shower is a tragic chore that gets put off many times b/c I'm too tired to do. it. I'm 34 and had a life of camping, walking 5 miles a day, working 65 hour weeks and doing what I loved. That person is no more.
Just know you are never along in this.
I thank you so much for your post. That is the first time I have heard anyone say that getting into the shower can be such a chore that you put it off. That happens often to me and I thought I was just being lazy. I am 59 and also had a life of walking and working many hours at an active job. I still work, but regular hours at a slower pace and I am working on simplifying everything else.
I've been on methotrexate for 7 years or more celebrex about 5 years and it do
does not seem to work anymore. I would like to try enbrel and cut the other
two. It seems like my body get used to the medication and it does not work
anymore. Too many medication will kill us I think. Does enbrel work for you.
How to know which medication really works if we stay on all of them.

I'm sorry to hear about this problem! I have the same problems as well. I have been on methotrexate for about 11 months now and I have had no symptoms or problems for the first ten months of taking the medication; however, during the eleventh month, I started to notice the same symptoms that you both are experiencing. I hate that I'm exhausted all the time. I feel like I have no energy and I want to sleep all the time. But this isn't always productive because when I try to sleep, I can't sleep so I try to work on other things. Getting work done doesn't always work out so smoothly since I have a hard time concentrating on my school work. I agree with you, I know I want to do more, but I can't seem to be able to do it. I don't have a regular work schedule, but I'm a full time student at UCD: I take 16-18 units every quarter, I intern at the neurology clinic 6-8 hours a week, and I work 6 hours a week. I really don't want to add to the huge list of medications that I'm currently taking, but how do you know if you are depressed?
