Hello, Phoenix,
I would suggest you make an appointment with your PCP and see what he/she has to say. Your doc may very well run a few blood tests referred to as an arhtritis panel. There are a lot of different types of autoimmune disease...RA, Lupus, PsA, etc. If your doctor thinks you may have an autoimmune disease, you should be referred to a rheumatologist. Please make an appointment with your doctor. We would love for you to stay in touch and let us know how you are doing. Best wishes to you, Phoenix.
Peace,
V
Hi Phoenix,
As you likely know, RA can develop at any age. Hopefully you are under the care of a really good primary care doctor who is prescribing the steroids for your hives. Definitely discuss the joint pain and stiffness you are experiencing. Like V said, a series of blood tests will likely be ordered. The results of these tests do not prove RA or disprove it, but they will definitely provide some information which may be useful to the rheumatologist when you do consult with one. Perhaps you could ask for a recommendation for a rheumatologist from your primary care doctor which would provide a good opportunity to discuss your concerns. Good luck and I hope that you begin to feel much better soon.
Lisa
