i am taking Nabumetone & Hydroyxchlor, my question is can these meds make you burn from the sun as
i have never burned from the sun, but this year i did , very badly, can AR meds have any effect on the sun
Hi Nancy,
Increased risk of sunburn (photosensitivity) is a side-effect that is associated with many medications. Unfortunately both nabumetone and hydroxychloroquine have photosensitivity as a potential side-effect. This would explain the sunburn you experienced this year. The best thing to do when taking these medications is to limit your exposure to the sun. However, we know that this isn't always an option, so it important to wear sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher. Even though in the past you didn't suffer from sunburns, you need to take this increased sensitivity into account for the time that you are on the medications. I hope that this helped answer your question.
Thank you,
Casey
