Hello, I am looking for a doctor in the Burlington Vermont area that takes Blue Cross Blue Shield and Works with people who suffer from chronic pain, such as Final stage degenerative arthritis, back pain etc.
My doctor of 12 years has left his practice and I must find a new doctor to continue my therapy with two medications I am dependent upon.
Oxycodone and Fentanyl Patches. Thomas Chittenden Health Clinic is ruled out.
I have not had to look for a doctor in over 17 years and not under these circumstances being dependent upon these pain medicines. I had no idea it would be this hard. My meds run out in 2 weeks and I am really worried and scared that I do not know how to get them refilled.
If anybody knows a doctor that could help me please let me know asap. I'm 57 with two boys I have brought up with disabilities. I do not sell my medications or abuse them. My body depends upon them. Thanks John Carter

Thank You very much for your suggestions. I failed to mention that I had an interim doctor at my clinic. After over 15 years of excellent care, I had to blindly choose and for seven months I had the worst care and treatment that I have ever had from this doctor and his nurse. In seven moths he is responsible for having me become dependent on higher doses of pain medication; I was taking 3 to six 5mg oxycodone tablets per day as needed and wearing a fentanyl patch of 25 micrograms for three days (thay only lasted 2).
Instead of dealing with the insuarance company and working to get them to pre-authorize enough patches for every two days - according to him the insurane wanted to speak with him - he was two busy to play phone tag.
He upped my oxycodone tablets to 12 a day for breakthrough pain and upped the fentanyl patch to 50 micrograms (still they only lasted 2 days).
Eventually there was a misunderstanding of an issue and while I was expecting a letter from him to support my issues with the insurance company and without allowing me to explain the misunderstanding I got a letter firing me from him and TCHC's clinic.
I have been having a terrible time finding a primary physiscian in Addison county (closer to home). Nobobody will take a "chronic pain case" and especially one thats treatment is controlled substances and even more so someone who has a letter firing them from another practice.
I have started looking in Chittenden County and am running into the same situation.
I never knew things were like this as I have not had to find a new doctor in close to 20 years.
This doctor enabled me to become dependent upon large doses of these medications, and then abandoned me.
I am afraid of withdrawl symptoms especially because of other health issues and fear that I might have to suffer or even possibly have a heart attack.....The clock is ticking and my meds are getting low while no doctor wants to help me even after 17 years of .............
Thanks again. Please feel free to offer other ideas but I need help fast.
P.S.
Instead of concentrating on finding a good doctor, I have to concentrate on gettig my meds refilled and this gives the clinicsthe impression that I am a drug addict and just need my drugs. I do need them for legitimate reasons.
