Q: My husband has an extremely high rheumatoid number but has not been formally diagnosed.....

My husband was tested twice and both times his RA number was 341....yes, 341!  We have an appt. w/ a specialist but have not yet been there.  How worried should I/we be?

I am not a doctor, but I would not be too worried at this point.  A high rheumatoid factor can be indicative of many different thing, including rheumatoid arthritis.  A rheumatologist  will be able to run many more tests including a joint count where he tests for tenderness in the joints.  I have included a wonderful site that tells all about rheumatoid factor and what it might mean for you.

I hope all goes well for you and your husband and please know that we all here for you when you need support.  Good luck and best wishes!
