Hi, Sarah,

I will be interested to see what responses you receive on this question.  I have narrowed my search down to two possibilities.  One is the sleep number bed, and the other is Tempurpedic (sp?).  My only concern with Temperpedic, is that some people say it is "hot".

Best Wishes,

V

Those two are what I'm thinking about too! There is a tempurpedic(?) mattress that has a cooling gel in it, but it is pretty far out of my price range! Thanks for answering! Reply

We have a factory outlet here and they sell a knock-off temperpedic, but it still costs 1100.00.  I just saw a sleep number bed ad on TV...they have 50% off on some models, and they have a Queen size for a little under 600.00, the ad said.  I have a friend who just bought a Sleep Number Bed at a store called Big Lots for under 600.00.  Just a thought...........

Best Wishes!

Tempurpedic is the best. They are no longer hot. They have added extra somethings that help them to circulate the air. You should buy then from a reputable store and specify that you want the mattress that stays cooler. We just bought ours in December and has helped my aching bones greatly.

I bought a pure latex mattress several years ago and just love it, it helps a lot with pain. Last year I decided to add a memory foam topper.  This has increased the comfort level even more so I would highly recommend that commendation.

Wonderwoman,

What is a pure latex matress?  I have never heard of those.  Who makes them?

Thanks!

I bought a simmons posterpedic about a year ago.  It has a gel coating that keeps you cool.

It was pretty expensive, but worth every penny when I'm flaring.

Thats, Beserka!  I will check that one out.  I didn't know they had beds like that, with cooling gel, etc.   I don't get out much these days! LOL

We have a numbers bed and it is best for my RA.  I am able to adjust it as I need it so that if I am having more trouble with a hip or a shoulder I can reduce or harden the bed until I am confortable.

I highly recommend it as does my husband who does not have RA but his own version of aches and pains.

We just bought a new Englander temperpedic infused with gel  to keep it cool. I haven't slept this good in years! http://englander.com/egel2.html It is called Egel. Check it out! It was worth the price!

I LOVE my Temperpedic... It is true what they say.

I can't say that I am pain free sleeping on it (are we ever pain free with RA?) but I know when I travel or visit my daughter and sleep on another matress, I hurt more when I wake up.

By the way, just remember that you spend at least 1/3 of your life in bed so I would pay the extra and not settle for less than the best.

I've actually had alot of trouble with the tempurpedic, because when my hands got bad it was really hard to readjust position. Has anyone else experienced that?

Five years ago I finally got fed up with waking up with hip pain.  I got a Sleep Number bed.  I love it! No hip pain - ever again.

Thank you all so much for all the feedback- it sounds like I need to focus on the tempurpedic and the sleep number beds! Can't wait- I'm ready for a good night of sleep! Sarah Reply

I know I will sound a little crazy and dating myself here but I have a queen size 70% motionless waterbed. It is wonderful for my back and hips.

Anytime I am away and sleep on a regular bed my back is so bad I maybe sleep 4 hours.  The only thing that will bother me is my neck but that is my pillow situation at the pesent moment, 2 pillows to much and 1 pillow not enough etc .

The waterbed has a heater that I can turn up when i feel really bad or turn it way down when I am not.
