When I was on Enbrel, I was very anxious and now that I'm on Humira, I realized that I get more anxious for couple of days after my shot - the difference between Enron Humira for me was that I was getting Enbrel injection twice a week and now I'm getting Humira every couple weeks, which allows me to simmer down in between shots. One of the things that has helped me with the anxiety is realizing the connection between the medication and my emotions, which means I can logic my way out of it. Before I realized that connection, I was having free-floating anxiety all the time and it can be really scary. However, if you can talk yourself down by reminding yourself that it's a reaction to the medication, it becomes easier to live with. You may also want to try meditation - I can highly recommend that audio program called Mindfulness for Beginners.

You may want to talk to your rheumatologist about perhaps decreasing the dose a little in the beginning to allow you to get used to the medication before you up the dose again. Often, side effects decrease as your body gets used to the medication - it's the reasons that I often start at a lower dose than recommended, gradually work my way up to minimize side effects. If you get anxious after you next Enbrel shot, it seems reasonable to assume that the two are connected, so speaking to your doctor about easing into it a bit more based on the emotional reaction may be a good idea.

One of the more minor side effects of Enbrel is heart palpitations.  I am not too sure about an all out panic attack.  I had been on Enbrel for 6 yrs before I started getting palpitations, I also was going through an extremely emotion venture in my life at the time (enbrel had stopped working, a relationship was going soar and I had lost my job because of time taken off.)

If you already prone to anxiety attacks and have meds for them, then you know that sometimes the slightest unconscience thing can trigger one.

Sit down and breathe and relax.  Enbrel is not generally harmful and you will enjoy the benenfit of it faster and easier when you relax the tense worried muscles.
