Mary, I have a several great ideas for taking pills as I have trouble swallowing.  Feeling any pill going down my throat or at the back of my throat puts me full force into my gag reflex.  Here are just a few of my pill taking remedies.  I sometimes put my pill in yogurt or apple sauce (the cinimmon is great) and swallow it down that way as I surrounds the pill and helps me not feel it going down.  Another idea is milk or hot chocolate.  Hot chocolate is my favorite.  They both seem to have a tad bit thicker consistency than water and help coat the pill as it is going down.  I hope this helps!  Good luck and best wishes!

When I was younger, I couldn't swallow pills, either.  At the time, we'd crush the pills and makes the powder into something sweet to hide the bitter taste.  You might find that certain areas on your tongue are less receptive to the bitter taste, so you could slide the mixture along that area as you swallow.  You can try to crush a pill between two spoons, bot the easier way to go is to buy a pill crusher at your local pharmacy.  They're small and easy to use.

Good luck!
