Q: My feet are so miserable even shoes hurt...

I have tried several brands of shoes over the past several years and am really struggling lately to find a pair that is comfortable to wear for an average 6-8 hr work day. I have switched from Doc Martens, to Dansko, to Birkenstocks. I haven't been abale to wear tennis shoes for the past year because they put to much pressure across the balls of my feet. My heels and ankles hurt and I am desperate! Please help!

Unfortunately Crocs have been my saving grace, but the ones with the fuzzy stuff in them.  My feet swell up as my body warms up and I can't wear anything else unless its open toed.  I haven't wore sneaks or dress shoes in 4 years.  I even have to wear them when I dress up.  but they are at least comfy.  Good luck.

I too have struggled with finding comfortable shoes. Lately, I have found that Keens work well. I have two different pairs and the seem to work the best on longer days. I am a teacher and spend lots of time on my feet. In the colder months I have found a pair of Lowa light hikers work ok when I have to wear a closed shoe. I only wear tennis shoes when Im doing something active. But I share your frustration.....good luck!

Hi there,

I've always had trouble with finding comfortable shoes (that look half decent) and the most comfortable pairs I have are:

Some Rockports from QVC (the ones I've bought aren't there anymore though)

Crocs Olivia (there's loads of websites selling those - G Products)

And Marco Tozzi have also proved to be quite comfortable for work (not 100%, but better than many- Marco Tozzi page)

I hope this helps. For such a long I was wasting my money on shoes that seemed ok when I tried them on in shops.  I actually found I was far more successful using the internet so I could be sure what I was buying.

I did get a pair of Keen sandals I ordered online I have wore them a couple of time and they are fairly comfy very soft and cushiony on the bottom. I amgoing to look at Crocs, I have a pair of the orginal style and they work good, just not real dressy looking. Thank you for you help.

It is hard to find shoes that work well for your feet. I found some shoes at Walmart that work for me. They are highly padded and open in the back. They are also fabric and not leather with an adjustable strap across the top. Good luck in finding something that will work for you. How about nurses shoes? Have you tried them?

I have tried nurses shoes (worked as a nurse for many years untill I couldn't stand on my feet for more than 4 hours, now I am self-employed), it seems as if the only thing I can count on are slippers but they wear out to fast and aren't very professional looking Wink!!! I wore burkenstocks for the past 4 years but the last 1 1/2 years it has been to hard to break them in because the foot bed is not very soft and they make my feet feel like I have been walking on rocks. I did get a pair of Keen sandals yesterday and the bottoms are very soft and cushiony I am still working on breaking them in so I am crossing my fingers. Thank you for the advice and I will take a look at Walmart (more cost effective than spending $80 or more on a pair of shoes that will sit in the closet, some day I may be able to open a gently used shoe store!!! lol)

Have a great day!
