Q: does RA cause heart murmurs

I have recently been to the doctors who detected a slight heart murmur, and said it was a symptom of RA.  If this is the case, what damage could have been done to the heart and is there anything that i should do/change in my lifestyle??

Okay this is a tricky one because a lot of people don't realize that RA can affect your heart.  Now I have never heard of RA directly causing a heart murmur, but it definitely can irritate it do to the inflammation it can cause to your heart.  Now there is no way to tell what kind of damage has been done without your doctor running tests.  Now the best kind of lifestyle changes that you can make is a diet high in Omega 3 fatty acids.  I have included some links that talk a little about lifestyle changes that you can make.  Here they are:

and

And as always with inflammation, getting plenty of rest and taking a little more time for yourself helps.  Keep your head up!  Good luck, and best wishes!
