4 years ago (before being DX with RA) i had knee surgery on my left knee. Since then it has been singnificant better than it was prior to surgery, and havent had any trouble with the knee since. 3 days ago I was lounging in an oversized chair in my living room and had my left leg propped up on the arm of the chair. i happened to apply a light pressure on my knee (there was a dull ache and i placed my hand on it) and my knee cap popped out of socket and hurt like crazy. Our of pure reflex i smacked it back into place. it made a terrible sucking sound when it popped out. My husband (a pt) and my sister where in the room when it happend and they both heard the sucking sound. just thinking about it makes me cring. My question is kinda an obvious one which I suppose I know the anwer to but never the less am going to ask. Has anybody ever had trouble with thier knees in such a way? I am assuming that the RA has caused a build up of fluid around my knee cap thus providing the ample fluid to cause the knee cap to so easily pop or float out of place. just wondering if this was a fluke thing or if its happened to others.
