Q: Carpal tunnel syndrome & RA

Ok I would love to know if Carpal tunnel syndrome is common with RA or jut commonly confused with RA? I have seen many (6) doctors - of different specialities and while none of them can come right out and say I have CTS they don't know what to say but since I have symptoms of CTS it must be. I know its not CTS - at least not the whole problem. So what I guess I am asking is there anybody out there who is seronegative and had a problem getting DX with RA becasue of CTS?

Thanks!

Go see a Rheumatologist and find out for sure if you have RA. CTS is sometimes blamed for what really is RA.

I was wondering how common it is too.  I was diagnosed with Carpal tunnel and then just recently RA.  My doc says that the inflamation could cause the carpal tunnel and suggests postponing surgery until I've been on medication for a couple of months, if I can stand it.  A friend had a similar diagnosis, but went ahead with the surgery.  We have different docs.  She still has some numbness.

I have had carpal tunnel since the 1980's, in 1988 I had surgery on both wrists.  I did not get RA until 2007.  See below for what I have found that helps the pain of carpal tunnel and RA.  I feel so blessed to have finally found something that really helps with the pain associated with RA and carpal tunnel.

I suffered with RA since August 2007 and was offically diagnoised with RA in November 2007.  I could not bend my fingers for weeks and ended up taking numerous medication to get it under control.  In December of 2007 I started drinking a juice drink called MonaVie that has changed my life as well as my families lives.  It is loaded with antioxidants.  I not only drink the juice but I apply the juice to any painful joint and it relieves the pain for the day.  Drinking 1/4 cup of this juice twice a day since December has also lowered my blood pressure, lowered my cholestrol, relieved me of my carpal tunnel pain (I no longer need to wear wrist splints at night to keep my hands from falling asleep), lets me sleep sounder, have more energy, and improved my allergies so much that I no longer take an allergy pill.  If I do have a problem with my allergies all I have to do is take an extra 1/4 cup of juice and the problem will be gone within the hour.  My family and friends have all had simular improvement to their health drinking this juice.

For more information on this juice go to www.thegreatproduct.com/peggyandbob  use the password freedom to get additional information.  I have had to become an independent distributor of MonaVie so I can purchase the juice at a discount.  I and my family will be drinking this juice for the rest of our lives because I want to feel good all of the time and be healthy.

I went to my family doctor for wrist pains which came on almost overnight. I was diagnosed with carpal tunnel and had surgery on both wrists. I complained to my surgeon that I was still in a lot of pain and still had swelling in my wrists. He referred my to a rheumy and I was diadnosed with RA.
