Hi Celeste, You most certainly can collect SSDI for RA. I have been on it for a few years, I am 47 yrs old and was dxd with RA 4 yrs ago. You really dont need an attorney to apply for SSDI. I did it all through the website and never involved an attorney. If you can get it without one, why pay there exorbitant prices? Here is an article I wrote about it some time ago on this site.
