Hi, Shahida, Methotrexate is a DMARD used to slow down or stop the joint damage caused by RA. We can't know for sure what will happen if you stop taking it, but I can tell you that most of the people I know who stop MTX without going on another DMARD, usually flare after a short period of time. Is there some reason you want to stop the MTX? There are other DMARDs out there. I would suggest talking this over with your doctor. Best Wishes, V
