Q: Who else is having problems with RA and weight gain?

I  just answered a dated March post concerning RA and weight gain.

However, I'm really struggling with weight gain since my diagnosis of RA. I'm on Prednisone, MTX, Humira, and Leucovorin. I'm experiencing peripheral edema without pain in both lower extremities. Have been put on Lasix as a result. Fasting, exercise etc. isn't doing the trick so far. Has anyone found themselves fighting the battle of the bulge with difficulty like me?

it's fairly common for weight gain to be part of RA - it's hard to move, so you gain weight and that makes it even harder to move. Not to mention the medications where gaining weight can be a side effect. You may want to check out two posts we had recently - one about diet, the other about exercise, both from the perspective of somebody who lives with RA.  you can also ask your doctor for a referral to a physical therapist can help you put together an exercise program that will protect your joints and you may consider seeing a dietitian, as well.

Good luck!
