If you have recently started taking plaquenil I would limit your sun exposure as this medication can make you sensitive to sun light.  When I fist started taking it I spent a hour at a local water park and ended up with pretty bad sunburn.  Now please know that it doesn't bother everyone, but why take that chance.  Now if you have been on it for a while chances are that you can tolerate it a little better.  Hope this helps!  Good luck and best wishes!
