Q: Does the fact that I was a colon cancer patient have a factor in this treatment

I had colon cancer four years and had a resection, then a year later it returned in my liver. I had 35 chemo treatments and liver surgery resulting in removing 5 inches of the right lobe. I am now a year cancer free.  NOw my RA has returned full blast and am in the process of starting Rituxan treatments. I would like to know if the fact that I had cancer will effect the treatments to a disadvantage?

The short answer is I don't know. Both diseases involve your immune system, but sort of in opposite ways. I'm assuming you've spoken to your rheumatologist about your past medical history, including your cancer? To be honest I think your rheumatologist is a much better source of the right information for you. You may also want to talk to your oncologist about creating a sort of team between him/her and your rheumatologist or at least get a flow information happening between the two.
