My 14 year old recently missed a week of school due to the flu. Now my 11 year old is down with a fever. I'm not as sick as he is, but think I may have it too. The problem? My temperature jumps up and down. I'm tired and achy. In other words, I'm normal for me. I just have a sense that something's not quite right. Anyone out there who's had this year's flu and can give me some insight?

Hi Debra,

I just happened to find your question. Also, I just happened to ask a related question. Please read and tell me what you think. Same thing as you??? Usually, I start feeling better after a few days of increased prednisone. But this is s-l-o-w going this time.

trust your instincts. if it feels as if something's not right, go see a doctor. I realize that is now a week later and you will have found out whether it was the flu or a flare, so I can only offer the general advice. Which is always trust your gut.  when you have a chronic illness like RA, you learn what is "normal for you" and what isn't and even if it's on paper looks normal for you, when your body sending you messages that there's something more to it, go with those messages
