Q: Is SUPPLE ok to take for RA?

My son was diagnosed with ra at the age of 10 and has it in both knees.  He takes Aleeve when he is in great pain, but is not on any medication on a daily basis.  I saw an infomercial about a new product drink called SUPPLE.  Would you recomend it for a child, is it safe, does any governing agency do inspection on this product and should I order it for my son?

Hi RAMom,

I was unfamiliar with SUPPLE so I looked it up.  It is a supplementary product which includes glucosamine, chondroitin, and a small number of vitamins and minerals.  The price is very expensive at almost $3 per day (including S&H).  Hopefully your son already takes a daily multi-vitamin w/ minerals for a child his age.  I do not know the safety of glucosamine and chondroitin for a child.

But let me suggest that you discuss proper treatment with the rheumatologist.  Having Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis is not a thing to take lightly.  It might be best to use appropriate medication to help protect from future and further damage.

Also, as a personal philosophy, I do not purchase items which are advertised in Infomercials.  Just a personal preference.

Hi I just turned on a show called "Smart Medicine" and the paid infomercial for Supple.

I do not have RA, but have OA around 3 herniated discs in my neck and 3 herniated discs in my lower back - after having a car accident where a Semi truck rearended my vehicle at 60 MPH while I was at a complete stop.  He hit me so hard that the back end of my Lexus Hybrid SUV ended up in the front seat and my vehicle landed on the top of  small pickup's trailer hitch...

Anyway, that was 3 years ago and I have not been the same since.  I have done all the conventional tx s like PT, chiropractor, Vicodin, Ativan, Soma, Lodine, and even spent my own money for Acupuncture...I am still in great pain and get massive headaches and the shooting pains down the legs!  So this "fish oil salesman" got me to listen...he even referred to other infomarketing as "fish oil salesman" and said that his product was different and had many studies to back up the great resullts, that, of corse "pharmaceutical companies don't want you to know about."   I was immediately skeptical because the words were all the same as the other bogus claims...so I thought I'd check with someone reputable like Dr. Dean Odell and next with my other fav, WEB MD...the product he was selling was a liguiid called "Supple" (digests bette than the horse pills of Glucosamine/Chondroitin, I know) but still sounds questionable - especially when he said that cartilage could grow back!!!  That I really wanted to find out because I didn'tthink thatwas possible - Please bring some truth to this insanity because my pain has really limited my life and I don't want to keep on taking more and more evil Vicodin and other worse things to try to stop the pain...Please help...thanks

Oh and by the way, there is also arthritis in my knee, as I severed the Anterior Cruciate Ligament in 1987, while working as a police officer, going over a fence...when I landed on the ground, my foot went to the left and my knee went to the right and there was alarge POP and huge swelling.  An ACL repair was done with a Titanium pin.

Hi RAMom,   I see a Dr. Milne when I want to be cured and not just Covering up the symptoms. I have RA and it is not just in the knees it is in the blood. When I saw this Dr. I found out that a lot of things I was eating caused the pain in my joints. Not all of them just certain ones. When I got alergy testing (electronically not the injected type) I found that most of what I was allergic to was causing my pain. If you find out his blood type and eat accordingly it might make a big difference. You can google blood type diet. It did with me and I am 55 yrs old. I saw the infomercial today and it looked like the female only had dollar signs in her eyes. Be careful.

I have severe ra and took supple for 2 months and it did nothing for me and it cost a lot of money. I believe that its a scam and would not recommend it. I hope this was helpful to you.

Hi I Just saw the Informercial on TV & it sparked my interest.  I have a 14 year old daughter that has been diagnosed with RA since she was 11 years old. She has been on all the meds that you can imagine. She takes Enbrel, Methotrexate and naproxine.

If I wanted  to use Supple what is the length on time recommeded for use & complete healing from the RA disease.  (My intent is to continue using the Meds she has already)
