any advise for an RA patient trying (9 months now) to conceive? (taking pred. plaquenil and naproxen

a family member has been off of methotraxate for over a year, and has been trying to conceive since october 2007.  she is in constant pain, but is able to function.  last month she underwent IUI, and it was not successful.  She is taking prednisone (tries to limit to 5 - 10mg) plaquenil and naproxen.

does anyone have information that these meds can interfere with conception?  her doctors have not advised her to stop taking any NSAIDS, such as ibuprofen or naproxen.

please help us with any advise you may have.  it's such a difficult situation, to stay off of the RA drugs for too long in order to get pregnant.  What can we do?

thanks

rachel

I was on prednisone during my entire pregnancy with my twins.  I had been off plaquenil for 9 months before getting pregnant.  They drs just increased my prednisone.

After I became pregnant I went into remission the entire time and even after the twins were born I was in remission until I stopped breast feeding.  It was an incredible feeling.

There are other medications her Dr can give her for the pain until she conceives.  Best of luck.
