Intense itching is not caused by RA as far as I know. You really should consider consulting with your doctor as there could be many different causes.
Maybe you have the beginnings of a skin condition, infection, or parasitic infestation. Maybe you have nerve damage and the messages going to the brain regarding sensations is getting messed up. Maybe it's a side-effect of one of your medications.
Too many possibilites. Please call the doctor.
I agree with Lisa. You really need to call your doctor. I have had intense itching all over when I had a severe allergic reaction. Antihisimines helped, but I had to go to the doctor and get a shot. There could be many things causing this condtion. Best Wishes, V
