Again, I'm not up on the studies specifically about this, but I would recommend you try to ask your questions again in a SharePost - they often get more traffic than the individual question in this area, so it you might hear from more of our users who have experienced similar issues.

Good luck!

My white count went up due to RA.  When I'm on my main med (Enbrel) my white count usually goes down (sometimes a little TOO low).  Was your white count normal BEFORE you started the prednisone?   PRednisone will decrease your immunity (resistance to infection).

The liver can be affected by many things - you might want to check a site like this:

http://www.drugs.com/prednisone.html

My gastroenterologist has told me that in RA, inflammatory factors can circulate through the body and affect any organ, including the liver.  My liver enzymes went up and down for a while - he never figured out exactly what was causing it.

Thank you! My white count was normal berore the prednisone and before the humira. I thought they both made it go down so i thought this was odd.  My liver went up alot on the MTX so I have been off of that for ahwile and it went back to normal now it is elevated again. Thanks for your info I will go look at that site.
