Q: Is it normal for the Methotrexate to make you shake?

Just wondering, it is normal to shake alot from the Methotrexate?  My DR. said some do but I seem to be really shaky and I don't think it is the prednisone...I have been on that before and it has never done this.  I am also so swollen from head to toe!  My ankle's look like I don't have any.  I have also gained about 25 lbs in about 6 weeks.  Not me.

Lisa,

I shake a lot, both my Rhuemy and GP have told me its the Pred. I take 40mg a day, not sure the MTX would make you shake, I take Arava myself instead of MTX. I would bet on the Pred. I also have no ankles and an extra tire from it!

Thanks! Yeah, that is about what I am on with the pred. 30 mg one day then alternate to 40 the next day.  I don't like some of the side effects of it but it sure does help!!!  Very strange sleep patterns.  It's like when I am up and I feel good, I don't want to even try to go to sleep because I want to take advantage of just feeling normal.  And I guess there could be worst things than an "extra tire".

thanks again!

It really does help, and hurt! It's a very high dose and not good to be on for long periods, hopefully you will find another med that will take its place!

Take care, feel better.

Also that much pred will make you gain weight, its just another side effect.  It will  however lessen once you stop taking it.
