Q: The bottom of the ball of my foot keeps getting callauses. i can't seem to keep it away &, it's getting very painful. could this be gout?

Also the area next to the ball of my foot is now starting to form callaus and feels like there is a bump forming there. I have tried insoles, differ shoes etc. with no relief. I am on my feet alot &, I just turned 50.

gout is a type of inflammatory arthritis and happens in the joints, so given that your symptoms are not appearing in a joint,it sounds unlikely that you are having a gout attack.

that said, if you're experiencing pain related to what is happening on your feet, I would recommend that you see your family doctor so they can check you out. You may also ask for a referral to a podiatrist (a foot specialist) who may be able to help you figure out what is going on and how to treat it.

good luck! please keep us posted?
