unfortunately, I don't know much about this particular issue, so can't tell you for sure one way or another. However, my guess is anywhere from a couple weeks to a couple months - it takes several months for methotrexate leave your body, so if the sores are really stubborn, it might take longer. However, it may also take only a few weeks if they respond well to the methotrexate getting reduced.

Let us know how things go, please?

I was getting whoppers (cold sores) for the first two years of 20 mg injections, then it slowed down over time. Now I take the stuff orally (12 mg) and haven't had a cold sore in some time. During the last year I've also increased my folic acid suppliments to 15 mg a week and stopped all alcohol (finally) a year ago, not sure if there is a 1 to 1 relationship but my wife and I think that no vino is key.

2 years on 20 mg injections

1 year on 15 mg injections

1 year on 12 mg pills.
