Q: Anyone tried acupuncture for pain management?

I'm still struggling with pain and don't like the icky feeling I get from narcotics. It's been suggested that acupuncture might be helpful for pain management, and I'd be interested to know if anyone else has had any experience with it. My insurance covers it for a $5 co-pay, so I'm thinking I can't go wrong with at least giving it a try!

Hello Buttercup,

I've never had acupuncture, but I just returned from an MS conference where the subject came up.  There are others who experience pain with their MS and sugggest acupuncture as a way of relieving their pain.  If your insurance covers it, all the better!  They said it does not hurt.

Let us know how you are doing, and good luck with your decision.  (I hope I've helped!)

Best in health,

Cathy

Hi Buttercup,

In the years before diagnosis, I received acupuncture treatments every two weeks.  It really did help with pain.  But it also helped even more with overall well-being.  I just got out of the habit and haven't been in years.  But if things start to get bad, I will definitely contact my acupuncturist again.

It's definitely worth trying it out.

Lisa
