I have pain in my left knee that has been severe for about 6 weeks. Previously, it was a dull ache and my knee was very stiff.  Went to the Dr. today and he gave me the rush job and told me it was tendinitis. Gave me Cymbalta and Dexpak Jr and a cortisone shot.

Does this make sense?

The funny thing about docs is that they can rush you and have a non-personality and still be very right and very good at what they do.  They can also take their time with you and run countless labs and still be dead wrong.  I  don't see the harm in the wait and see approach here.  You could follow his orders and see how it goes.  Believe me, if it's RA you will know it.  I'm still awaiting my diagnosis.  It's a pain to deal with- but every year as the symptoms get more pronounced, I know I'm closer to a diagnosis.

I went to see rheumy with a large lump on the inside of my elbow he told me that it was an inflamed tendon.  It isvery painful and does not go away.  He told me that the tendenitis is related to the inflamation from the arthritis.  I also have bersitis,I'm only 34 years old, I thought only old ladies got bersitis.  Also my siatic nerve will become inflamed every now and then and have had second and third opinions on why it happens and it all leads back to the arthritis.  So it totally makes sense that you would have tendonitis  in your knee..  Good luck to you and I hope that you feel better.
