I'm kinda curious on this one too.  I haven't been to a chiropractor in a few years pre-RA, now I just figured that it's not a good idea because of the inflammation inbetween joints & I would think that would include the spinal cord.....plus how our joints wear out.....that I was worried it might make it worse???  Does anybody go.....does it make you feel better???

I have had RA 10 years now and do believe in homopathy medicine and health care along with western medicine as I do take Orencia.  I see my chiropractor and accupuncturist and massage therpaist when needed.  My chiropractor does not adjust me at all but uses TMS treatment, moist heat, massage, and light adjustments nothing hard.  It was helping me until about 6 months ago now I do massage therapy accupressure.  I think it all depends on what type of treatment you get from the chiropractor. You may have to search for a good one that knows how to treat RA.  good luck

I went to a chiropractor because of minor back pains, after my first visit I was in so much pain I couldn't stand to move. I told the "doctors" this and showed them how limited my range of movement was, and they just kept writing all my complaints in their journals and told me that "it gets worse before it gets better" Well, since I had none of these pains before seeing the chiropractor, I decided to see my regular doctor (Who they had me convinced was going to kill me or something because traditional medicine is 'dangerous' and I 'didn't want to rely on drugs to make me feel better for the rest of my life' blah blah blah... of course I've since been diagnosed with RA and have had to go out of work on disability because the pain is so intense. ...being only 24 had having two young children, this is devistating for me, and I would NEVER recommend chiropractic care for anyone who has, or thinks they may have RA... ever.

Hi! I am 36 and I was diagnosed with RA 7yrs ago, I was on all types of medication - which made me feel terrible and then after feeling worse and worse for so long, I stumbled upon info that led me to work with a naturopath that did a 6 month allergy treatment, became vegan/raw and balanced my pH levels - with food and meditation to mantain my body alkaline and in 6 months I was back to normal or better said feeling better than ever! I have been in remission for more than 5 years and I only took medication for a few months, so if you haven't gotten better I hope you try any or all of these approaches and see what your body needs for it to heal.

As a chiropractor myself, I have seen positive results in my RA patients.  It is important that the chiropractor does several modalities in addition to chiropractic adjustments. Keeping your spinal column in its proper alignment is key in helping pain management. Chiropractors help restore hypo-mobile joint function and strengthening hyper-mobile joints.  RA can cause a combination of both (hyper/hypo) but the important thing is joint mobility and keeping as much range of motion as possible.  Too much motion can be a bad thing and too little motion can be a bad thing.

RA can cause stiffness and pain at the site of inflammation (feet, hands/wrists, knees, etc).  Rest during acute flare ups and exercise when you are feeling good.  As I said before, chiropractors that offer more than just the adjustments are better then those that just adjust.  Look up chiro's that offer soft tissue work in addition to adjusting.  You'll get results!

** it is important you contact and speak with your local chiropractor about your individual health status.  These are general statements and should be discussed based on your health history.

I have been a chiropractor for 20 years AND got into Chiropractic because I had RA. The initial Chiropractors and then massage therapist, I first went to made me worse; BUT the 2nd Chiropractor really really helped me. SO.. I got better and went to Chiropractic School and became a Chiropractor. The first 5 years of it I wasn't very good (You really do learn the most on the JOB!), .. but am  competent enough now that most RA and other arthritic patients are helped tremendously by my treatments.  The main problem I have is that most patients are so brainwashed by the corporate media, and by their friends/relatives who are media brainwashed too..  that they drop out of care before I can create lasting changes in their joints/muscles/etc.. AND lasting changes in their lifestyles. Americans are media conditioned to eat, drug, and inactivate themselves into most of their diseases. They are conditioned to want a quick and temporary fix at the expense of their future health and well-being. That's a hard thing to change.. BUT.. I keep trying! Best wishes all you readers out there!
