Hi there. I'm on Mtx and Humira, and have very low energy all the time. I've gained weight since having RA and it sure isn't easy losing weight. You're on more med's than me and I know Prednisone makes you gain, as well as the diseases. My best advice is to eat healthy! Of course, keep trying to do some sort of activity every day, but eating healthy has helped me start to lose weight. Throw veggies in salads or on sandwiches, have yogurt, nuts, leafy greens & yummy fruit smoothies, and lots of water! I hope this was helpful.

Hi there!

First I don't know what I have, but I suspect I have RA.  My job is a personal trainer working mostly in rehab, so you can imagine the impact this will have on my life! I hope I can help you! I know is is a real pain (ha ha- I am soooooo funny) to find an exercise program to loose weight and feel better and that you can do consistantly. I find that most people will go through spruts of gung ho ness and then it falls away and old habits (lack of exercise or eating habits). Most people take on too much too soon.

I suggest thinking about things you have always wanted to do, not so much things you think you have to do. Make a list, even if it is weird like sky diving or taking up kickboxing. Then ( I know this sounds weird) check off the things you THINK you may be able to do- even if it is kick boxing! Take that list to the Y or a  community gym. I say this because they are not as $ oriented and you will find more people more concerned with thier members than with the $. Find a trainer that is- KNOWS his/her stuff, not someone who did their on line certification and has a week experience. Get yourself someone you would like to hang out with. It will be a waste of time and $ for you if you dont enjoy your time and you wont stick with it.

If you find something that you like to do, and someone who will push you to your limit, and I mean your limit, day to day, you will continue and you will feel better mentally and physically. The weight will come off. For some people it takes longer (the meds) but who cares if you FEEL better.
