Q: Peripheral numbness

Has anyone experienced peripheral numbness? I will on occasion have a novacaine like sensation that extends from the top of my head down my right side to my toes.  I will frequently ask check to see if my face is drooping and it is not, nor is my speech slurred.  If however I drink something hot I can feel it going down one side of my throat and the right is numb.  My RA doctor said that is part of the rheumatoid arthritits an inflamatory response.

I too get numbness, but I get it on my left side. Its starts from my head and down to my toes, I too have explained it as novacaine sensation, I get weak on that side and it makes it difficult to walk and I am unable to carry things stable on that side. I have mentioned it to my doctors and taken numerous tests...Ive seen a crappy neurologist that said it was 'complecated migranes' which are the worst you could get but I dont believe that for a second...I have been more recently told that it could be inflamation in my spine pressing on nerves causing the numbness or simply having nerve inflamation. It could be lots of things, I also have a tumor in my head so that could be my culprit but the body is a difficult thing to figure out. get an MRI of your head or spine, Id go back to your doctor and demand answers...I have found some relief with antiimflametorys but my face still gets a little tingly. good luck!!!
