I had been on Arava for a few months and it was working GREAT!!!  But I was in the hospital with heart problems and was told my kidneys were shutting down because of the Arava therefore I had to stop.  Anyway, I have been loosing my hair since about month 1 of taking the medicine and it is getting worse still and I have not been on it for 1 1/2 months.....does ANYONE know about how long this will last????  Also, does anyone have any other idea's of some type of medication I can take that will not effect my kidneys or heart?? My rhuemy is now clueless!!  Thank you....Lisa

Hey there.   I was on Arava for quite sometime and my hair started to fall out just before I stopped taking it.   I ended up losing over half of my hair, and the doctor told me that it could last for 3 to 6 months and I could lose up to 70 percent of my hair.

well, lucky for me I only lost half, but my hair has never been the same....

Now, unlucky for me, my hair is falling out again, I am on 25 mg of MTX!  So, here I go again.

Remember, its just hair and even though its difficult, it will grow back.  It sucks, but what do you do?   I need the meds to fuction.

good luck
