Treatment
The goals of treatment are to:
- Control the
acute attacks - Prevent repeated attacks
- Help the colon heal
Hospitalization is often needed for severe attacks. Your doctor may prescribe corticosteroids to reduce inflammation. You may be given nutrients through a vein (intravenous line).
