Drugmaker Wyeth has announced that a three-year study has found that Enbrel is a safe and effective treatment for children with the juvenile form of rheumatoid arthritis. For the study, investigators followed the progress of 602 patients between the ages of 2 years and 18 years old who suffered from juvenile idiopathic arthritis. They found that Enbrel was an effective, well-tolerated treatment in these patients, both when given alone and when given in combination with methotrexate.
