A team of researchers in Portugal has made a discovery that could place scientists one step closer to a cure for rheumatoid arthritis (RA). The investigators found that anti-CD4 antibodies, which are used to prevent transplant patients from rejecting new organs, also attacks the white blood cells that cause RA. Tests on mice have already shown positive results in treating the disease.
