According to a new study, light, flat shoes that have a flexible sole are better for arthritic knees than walking shoes or clogs. Researchers found that clogs and stability shoes produced the highest levels of knee loading, while barefoot walking, flip flops, and flexible-sole sneakers showed the lightest knee loads. Knee loading is a measure of how a person's weight rests onto the knee, and it is a key factor in the development of arthritis.
