Cleveland Clinic researchers say the death rates for U.S. children who have been diagnosed with rheumatic diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus, and dermatomyositis are much lower than has been previously reported. The scientists found that the death rates were higher for children who had systemic rheumatic diseases such as lupus, and lower for children who had juvenile RA or other pain conditions.
