Researchers discover trigger for lupus, RA

U.S. researchers have discovered that though healthy adults have autoimmune disease-causing cells, these cells are switched "off" in these people. But in people with autoimmune diseases such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, these self-attacking, dormant cells are switched "on." The scientists say these diseases may be caused by these dormant cells somehow breaking down and allowing self-attacking B-cells to cause autoimmune disease.
